Dear people in Austin (And everywhere else):

What makes you think it's acceptable to dump a cat off at a park? Do you placate yourself with the thought that 'someone will take it in'?

It doesn't always work that way.

Your cat, lost and scared, and - if it's a female - USUALLY pregnant, will do what it can to survive. This includes getting into garbage cans and becoming a nuisance, and taking a serious toll on the native wildlife. And you know what? They don't always live that long.

Some people are assholes. They'll go out of their way to kill that animal you abandoned, either by poison, being hit by a car, shot, or some things far worse.

And guess what? When that female cat has kittens, and they mature, they WILL BREED AMONGST THEMSELVES. You see, unlike humans (with the exception of South Carolina), CATS WILL INBREED.

And then, BAM. You have a feral cat colony.

LUCKILY, there are those of us who do our part to help take care of these colonies. This is why we have Trap, Neuter, Release programs, to curb feral cat populations. Of course, this does little good when some shit-for-brains drops off an unaltered cat. Then it's back to square fucking one.

Because of ONE PERSON.

Keep your cats inside (ESPECIALLY if they're not spayed or neutered), and don't be an irresponsible asshole. Don't abandon a pet; take them to the shelter, at least. Give them a chance to find a new home, or, at the very least, a painless death by euthanasia, rather than a slow one caused by the callous cruelty of people.

Seriously.

Oh, and don't give money to organizations like PETA or the HSUS. They're on-par with each other in crazy-asshole-ishness. And besides, PETA kills the majority of animals it takes in.

Give your money to the ASPCA, or to your local shelter. (They're always in need of supplies and volunteers!)

Save a pet. Kill a PETA member.
